1.Pocket PC 2003 / Windows Mobile
Windows Mobile is a compact operating system combined with a suite of basic applications for mobile devices based on the Microsoft Win32 API. Devices that run Windows Mobile include Pocket PCs, Smartphones, Portable Media Centers, and on-board computers for certain automobiles. It is designed to be somewhat similar to desktop versions of Windows, feature-wise and aesthetically. Additionally, third-party software development is available for Windows Mobile. Originally appearing as the Pocket PC 2000 operating system, Windows Mobile has been updated several times, with the current version being Windows Mobile 6.1, and a new release scheduled for 2010
2. Microsoft Compact Framework 2.0
The Microsoft .NET Compact Framework is a key part of realizing Microsoft's goal to provide customers with great experiences-any time, any place, and on any device. The .NET Compact Framework's managed code and XML Web services enable the development of secure, downloadable applications on devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, and set-top boxes.
3. Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5
SQL Server Compact is a free, easy-to-use embedded database engine that lets developers build robust Windows Desktop and mobile applications that run on all Windows platforms including Windows XP, Vista, Pocket PC, and Smartphon
Harvest Compact, provides screens which can be used in the PDA devices. The data entered through the device is saved in the local device and later on can be transmitted to the server. The server then processes the incoming data and updates the corresponding tables. The master details in the device can be synchronized in regular intervals that keep the device updated.

Sample Screens |
Master Settings

This screen is used to set the Remote Server URL. This URL will be used for receiving and sending data to the server.
After setting the URL click the Check Server button that will verify the server URL.
Master Sync

This screen is used for Synchronizing Master table values with the server machine.
There are two methods to synchronize data with the server.
Online and Offline
In Online method, the request comes to the server through GPRS and syncs with the server database.
The list box will be populated with the Master table’s names together with a check box. The required master tables can be selected and synchronized. The request will come to the server and will pull the data from the database and send it back to the PDA device. This device will clear all the existing data in the local data store and will update with the new data.
In Offline method, there is an option to select file from the local device. This file should contain the master data value. This should be generated from the server and exported as XML file and should be transferred to the device either through Bluetooth, Cradle or any other connectivity.
Transaction Screen – Crop Receiving
This screen captures Tobacco Receiving from the field. It takes the From store details and based on the store populates the consignments from the server (consignments will be synchronized from the server based on the Centre and Store) and then takes the Hessian details (Bale Tags) which can be either selected from the list or can be scanned through a barcode scanner. Hessian Detail tab accepts multiple entries which uses a Grid to manipulate ADD, EDIT and DELETE features. The transactions can be saved and also edited later from a search screen and also it can be given to print.
